AML 90 is a French Armored Recon that appears in Wargame: AirLand Battle.

History[]

The AML was built by Panhard to replace the Panhard 178 from WW2. It had used the Daimler Ferret in previous conflicts like in Algeria. The previous vehicles that France used were not previously suited for insurgency combat. This then led to the development of the AML 60 mortar carrier, which served the basis for the AML 90. A turret would be fitted onto the chassis of an AML 60 using high explosive AT weaponry. Derivatives of the car would then be built into the Panhard M3. The success of the AML led to the development of the ERC 90 and VCR. Production ceased by the 80s as France began exporting them to Middle Eastern and African countries like Kenya and Saudi Arabia.

AML 90 were replaced by ERC-90 in the Armored formations of the Force d'Action Rapide and Force AMX-10RC in the various European stationed regiments. The last units equipped with AML 90 were school units and reserve divisional combined arms regiment which had a AML 90 platoon each with three AML 90 and three jeeps.
