Missions[]

Armored fight training exercise[]

Armored combat training[]

WAB Training 1

Location: Yakima Training Center, Fort Lewis, Washington
Date: February 21, 1985

  • In this exercise, the "blue" force will engage the "red" (hostile) force In a real combat situation.
  • Your "blue" force has an entire section comprising 4 of the latest M1A1 Abrams tanks that can outperform anything the enemy sends against you.
  • The "red" force you have to engage in this mission comprises an indeterminate number of T-62 model 75 and T-72A tanks.
  • There is an FOB (forward operating base) containing fresh supplies of ammunition, fuel and spare parts in the axis of your offensive that could serve to facilitate the advance of the tanks.
  • The "blue" and "red" forces are authorized to call for reinforcements.

Your objective is to destroy the command vehicle of the red force in BRAVO sector.

Debriefing[]

You have passed the test and have been chosen for the next stage of the qualification process. Now go...

  • For that exercise, you had firepower superiority, but that won't always be like that.
  • Keep in mind that tanks' armor is weaker on their flanks and back.
  • Tank commanders will always show their best armor to the main threat, but striking from two direction will allow one of your group to hit them on their weak spot.
  • Therefore, you'll deal more damage and stress.
  • Morale is very important: a tank crew who's morale is diminished will fire slower and less accurately. If it ends up being panicked, it may even rout and refuse any further order.
  • Regrouping your units into a platoon will strengthen their resolve and reduce the chance to see them routing.
Victory!

Joint recon and armored training exercise[]
