Mk.5 | Mk.5AT | Mk.6 | Mk.11 |
Centurion Mk.5AT is a Canadian Main Battle Tank first introduced in Wargame: Red Dragon. It is an upgrade version of Centurion Mk.5.
History[]
With the Berlin War Crisis, the Canadian Government built up 4 Canadian Infantry Brigade Group. An anti tank company was formed from B Company 3rd Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment. This company was equipped with 2000 French-made ENTAC and SS.11 anti-tank missiles mounted on M38A1CDN Jeeps and M37 CDN Trucks. These light vehicles had mobility but little crew protection on a European battlefield, so an armored vehicle was trialed.
The Centurion Mk.5 was chosen as an internal armored missile carrier. Similar to the AMX-13 Harpon, the SS.11 was mounted on a horizontal launcher platform on top of the 20-pounder gun with four launch rails. These missiles provided a longer range engagement capability over the 1500 meters of the 20-pounders.
With the upgunning of the Centurion, the role of a static anti-tank vehicle was placed by M113A1 equipped with SS.11 and later TOW, then ADATS.
Overview[]
As for the game, this tank is both morally and physically outdated. In multiplayer, its appearance is equivalent to the fall of a meteorite. If some players decide to take it to his deck, then it is advised to give the Centurion Mk.5AT the role of infantry support. Its 20-pounder cannon is only able to withstand of light armored vehicles consisting of BTR series, early BMP-1, and BMP-2, e.g. When facing tanks, in realities of game, the SS-11 ATGM is not able to conduct effective fire at hostile targets due to its 30% accuracy.
