China (中国 Zhōngguó), officially the People's Republic of China (中华人民共和国, Zhōnghuá Rénmín Gònghéguó), is a single-party socialist republic in East Asia, bordering Mongolia and the Soviet Union to the north, the Middle East to the west, India and Southeast Asia to the south, and North Korea, South Korea, and Japan to the east. China appeared in Wargame: Red Dragon as a playable nation.

In Red Dragon, China is affiliated with North Korea; the two form a coalition called the Red Dragons.[1]

Description[]

The People's Republic of China formed a few years after the end of World War II when the Kuomintang Nationalists were ousted by Mao Zedong's People's Liberation Army. Although it historically had close ties with the Soviet Union, relations turned sour when Chinese and Soviet interpretations of Marxist ideology began to diverge. As a result, China could no longer rely on Soviet military support and resorted to indigenous means, and cooperation with the West to supply their armed forces.

The Sino-Soviet split forced the People's Liberation Army to develop its own military industry which had previously depended on Soviet hardware. Oscillating between Western technology and local production, by the ‘90s the PLA was quite comparable to its Western and Soviet counterparts in many areas, but they know this is far not enough.
