The Erikoisrajajääkäri (Finnish: Special Border Jaeger) is a Finnish Special Forces that appears in Double Nation Pack: REDS DLC of Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
The responsibilities of Finnish border defense include border surveillance, border inspection, crime prevention, maritime security, international cooperation, and assistance in national defense. Among them, the Border Jaeger (Rajajäääkäri) will add additional intelligence training on top of the same level of exercise for the Army. Finland implements a military service system, and Border Jaeger also composed of soldiers who express their willingness to join the border defense when recruited. They are recruited annually and serve for 12 months in each batch.[1]
The Finnish SMG Jatimatic first appeared in 1983 and was initially tested as a PDW, but was ultimately not adopted IRL. In 1984, 22 of these weapons were stolen from the factory and used for criminal purposes, which led to the manufacturer's production license being revoked. Thus this weapon produced only over 400 pieces at last.[2]
Overview[]
The Erikoisrajajääkäri is a Special Forces that equipped with MANPADs, therefore, its peers will be British SAS and DDR LStR-40 (FJB-40). However, as Erikoisrajajääkäri is a recon unit, they are inherently superior to the Infantry Commando in Stealth and Optics.
For primary weapon, Jatimatic being an SMG is of course will suffer losses when facing assault rifles in the forest, and the lack of SAW also means that Erikoisrajajääkäri should not participate in regular infantry combat. The most suitable place for SMG is in urban areas, as there is a damage bonus when competing for buildings. From this perspective, Erikoisrajajääkäri may be more functional in some ways.
The LAW APILAS outperformed AT-4 in all aspects. But compared to RPG-29 Vampyr, APILAS has lower Range, Accuracy, and AP Power, with only a firing rate of 20 RPM is better. On the plus side, this gives APILAS an extra chance to launch another round when facing superheavy tanks.
Erikoisrajajääkäri carries Igla like LStR-40. Igla's Range and Accuracy are better than Stinger, but its HE Power is not as good as it. On the other hand, the strength of light Recon Helicopters will be at 4 (e.g. OH-6, Bo 105CB).
