Available to NATO forces, the FV107 Scimitar is a variant of the British FV101 Scorpion armoured recon.
History[]
FV107 Scimitar is a one of the CVR(T) series of vehicles and entered service in 1971. FV107 Scimitar in the British Army are used in the Recce Troop and Platoon of Armored Regiments and Armored and Mechanized Infantry Battalions and the Armoured Reconnaissance Regiments. Two of the Armoured Reconnaissance Regiments were in peace time assigned to the 1st and 4th Armored Division in wartime serves in the Screening Force. The third Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment served with the 3rd Armored Division. The Household Cavalry's Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment has it squadrons serving in the 5th Airborne and 3rd Commando.
FV107 Scimitar is equipped with 30 mm L21 RARDEN cannon along with Coaxial 7.62 mm L37A1 MG. The official loadout is 165 rounds for the 30 mm and 2000 rounds for the coaxial.
Scimitar has served in British Service the Falklands War, Gulf War, Bosnia, Kosovo, 2nd Gulf War and Afghanistan.
