Exclusive to Soviet Union, the prototype T-80UK is essentially a T-80U tank modified and operated by crew able to for command and control operations. This makes it the only Command Tank variant of these cousin variant T-80 series of Main Battle Tanks.

History[]

Under the Soviet armoured doctrine, tank companies would receive a commander tank just like many major powers during the Cold War. In the Soviet case, the tank would also receive FCS upgrades aside from new communication equipment. The T-80UK was a result of such doctrine, featuring Shtora-1 soft-kill APS, Agava-2 TVD imager, atmospheric sensors, R-163U and R-163K radio, TNA-4 navigation systems, time-fuze controls and AB-1-P28 APU. The tank was likely being tested during the 1980s, and passed state certification during the 1990s. Likely due to insufficient funds and saving Shtora-1 APS for future tanks such as the T-72BU, the modern Russian model of the T-80UK looks extremely like an original T-80U with longer antenna for the radio. The only prototype is mostly used during army exhibitions or army open days.

Overview and tactics[]

This unit retains all the devastating features of the mighty T-80U. At speeds of 75 km/h, faster than any other Pact tank besides its cousin variant, it can apply its heavy fire power on hostiles, before they even get a chance to retreat. Heavy power, speed and stabilisers that can even compare to that of advanced air-superiority jets means that it is an excellent and effective Command Tank, able to quickly grasp control points and clean up any hostile forces. However this comes to a cost, at 200 points (250 for WAB), it is the most expensive Logistic vehicle in the whole Pact arsenal. At the same time, its limited quantity also determines its limited applicability, making it unsuitable for beginners to use.

Although the T-80UK itself has sufficient combat ability, it should be pointed out that once this tank is inside the enemy's field of view, they will throw everything they have to destroy it. Overall, this tank is too expensive that not recommanded to deploy except 4v4 or 10v10.
