Available to PACT forces, the Soviet T-80BV is third variant of the T-80, which requires the T-80A to unlock. The T-80BV allows the access to unlock the T-80U, the most expensive and powerful tank of the Warsaw Pact.
Overview[]
Certainly an exceptional Pact tank available when used only in groups. Apart from the few downsides which is availability, price, ATGM ammo, normal stabilizer, 7 accuracy, it doesn't leave much to wish for.
Taking the T-80BV down is a challenge of its own as it is often supported by other capable units, but it is not that much of a threat when alone and can be easily be outnumbered. The ATGM keeps it safe from enemy heavy tanks and single threats.
History[]
Further development of the T-80B, under the designation of Obyekt 219RV, resulted in the T-80BV, which externally is recognisable by the addition of first-generation Kontakt explosive reactive armour to the hull and turret for improved battlefield survivability. The design and function of the explosive reactive armour is identical to that of the T-64BV MBT.
The installation of the explosive reactive armour gave the T-80BV a very high degree of battlefield survivability against anti-tank weapons fitted with a single HEAT warhead.
The T-80BV has a combat weight of 42.5 tonnes, maximum road speed of 70 km/h and a road range of 370 km.
