The Gurkhas first saw combat in WWI (1914-1918) where they fought against the Germans. They also saw service in WWII against the Germans and Italians in North Africa and the Japanese in the Pacific and South East Asia. The Gurkhas were also deployed in other British conflicts in the 20th and 21st centuries such as the Korean War, Iraq War, and the War on Terror.
Gurkhas are the UK's prime close-quarters combat infantry. Armed with sub-machine guns and CQC capable light machine guns, they are an ideal unit for clearing out forests and city blocks.
However Gurkhas suffer in scenarios where range would be useful. When encountering rifle armed infantry outside of jungles or at the edge of city blocks, Gurkhas will suffer. Also their relatively high costs, leaves them vulnerable to swarming attacks.
Pair Gurkhas with infantry or vehicles that would support them. When clearing forests, have armored vehicles to push in front of them in order to absorb the first few shots. When clearing city blocks bring flamethrower infantry to help lockdown opponents.
