The 48th Highlanders is one of the Primary Reserve infantry regiments of the Canadian Land Forces. Created in 16 October 1891 as "48th Battalion (Highlanders)", the 48th Highlanders earned battle honours in South Africa and the Two World Wars.
Canadian Highlanders function as fire-support teams for units lacking long-range ATGMs.
The '90 version is a signfigant improvement and doubles the range of their weapons, for a 5 point premium.
Whilst not powerful enough on their own, Highlanders perform best when paired with another unit, such as Canadian Airborne or Rifles. Whilst lacking the range of dedicated 2-man ATGM teams, they provide a degree of versatility due their rifle and machine gun armament.
Highlanders will not survive close-quarter combat against infantry such as Spetznaz or Li-Jian. Ideally Highlanders are best used to garrison secured towns and take down advancing tanks or APCs and use their machine-gun and rifles to take down advancing infantry.
