M48A5K WRSA is a prototype South Korean main battle tank that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

In 1995, South Korea received 275 M48A5 from American War stocks. These were tanks originally stored for US National Guard use. These tank replaced M47 and a small number of M48A2C. [1]. These M48A5K has the Urdan cupola along with crosswind sensor but did not get the side skirt like the M48A5K got.

Overview[]

The M48A5K WRSA is the best M48 variant in the game statistically, and also the most expensive. With 2275m range and 17 AP, it can reach out and hit as hard as the Leopard 1A5 variants. However, it has no stabilizer, poor base accuracy, low armor, low speed, and its big size makes it an easier target to hit. However, it comes at a high availability, one card of 21 or 16 units in South Korean national deck, or 19 and 14 in Blue Dragons coalition, and its low cost (45 deployment points) can make it fairly cost effective.

The closest comparison South Korea's coalition partner has is the Nana-yon Shiki E. The Type 74E generally has an advantage over the M48A5K WRSA in that it has superior frontal armor, better offroad speed, far better accuracy (as well as a stabilizer), a greater rate of fire (10rpm vs 8rpm) that is bolstered by an autoloader, medium size and all at the cost of only 5 deployment points and 1 fewer AP damage per round. In almost all other respects, the two tanks are equivalent.
