The M966 Humvee TOW 2 is a prototype tank destroyer for the United States that first appeared in Wargame: AirLand Battle.

History[]

M966 was the TOW carrier configuration of the Humvee series of vehicles equipped with basic armor. BGM-71D TOW 2 first entered American service in 1983. With it heavier warhead, larger nose probe, an improved double-base rocket motor, and a new countermeasures resistant digital guidance system increased armor penetration to 800 mm.

The 90' era Airborne and Air Assault Battalions has a Anti-Tank Company with 20 TOWs mounted in Humvee.

The 9th Motorized Combined Arms Battalion – Heavy has two AT companies while the Combined Arms Battalion – Light has a AT Company also the Light Attack Battalion has 9 in each company. Each battalion of 9th Motorized has also a Anti-tank platoon in each Combat support company.

The Light Infantry Battalion has a Anti-tank platoon of 4 TOWs.

The National Guard has four TOW Light Anti-Tank Battalions with 5 companies of 12 TOWs each. These TLAT battalions were planned to augment regular light infantry divisions.

USMC's Tank Battalions has a AT Company with 72 Humvee TOW.
