A nuclear weapon is an explosive device that suddenly releases the energy in the nucleus of certain types of atoms, either through fission (atomic bomb) or fusion (thermonuclear/hydrogen bomb). When triggered, a nuclear bomb releases a huge amount of energy in the form of an explosion, often shaped as a mushroom cloud. The aftermath of the explosion results in radioactive fallout and a nuclear winter.
Most nuclear weapons during the Cold War were delivered by a strategic bomber, such as the B-52.
Nuclear weapons in WargameEdit
Wargame: European EscalationEdit
Strategic nuclear weapons were used during the last days of World War III, resulting in a nuclear holocaust.
Strategic nuclear weapons were also to be used before the events of Fatal Error, but the use of the weapons were averted, resulting instead in a grueling conventional war.
