Oppklaring (reconnaissance) is, as the name implies, more of a mission than a unit. Throughout much of the Cold War, the Norwegian army incorporated several dedicated recon units such as Fallskjermjegere (long range penetration/patrol) and Oppklaringseskadronen (armored recon), but most Army and Home Guard formations would have had limited recon capability on their own. The Wargame Oppklaring is probably most representative of such improvised, rather than dedicated recon units.
Ingame the Oppklaring is a useful, but unimpressive standardised recon unit. The M72 gives them decent AT capability ambushing apcs and transports, but their 5 man size and lack of MG means that they will fare badly if employed in direct combat against almost anything else. This, coupled with their very good optics, means that they are best employed concealed in town blocks or forest edges with their weapons disabled to prevent accidental discovery. Low price and decent availability means that they can also profitably be used to cover flanks and side roads, providing some warning against enemy roving recon and quick assaults.
