Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) is a infantry regiment of the Canadian Army of the Canadian Armed Forces. The second most senior infantry regiment in the Army, the unofficial motto of the "Pats" is "First in the Field". The regiment was the first Canadian formation in Europe in WW1 and participated in the Siberian theater of the Russian Civil war, the liberation of Italy and the Netherlands in WW2, the Battle of Kapyong of the Korean War, and the country's European contribution to NATO.
In Pearl of the Orient the PPCLI is actually part of the umbrella PPCLI command that consists of all the forces that Canada has contributed to the defense of Hong Kong. They arrive on the 2nd day of the conflict by air and are henceforth deploy-able from any available airfield.
