The PzH M109G is a NATO self-propelled artillery. A decent piece of cheap medium range artillery. Does its job when in numbers. A middle ground between the M109 and the M109A2.
The original version of the Bundeswehr. In the period of 1964 to 1972 were in two lots total 586 American armored howitzers in the former Setup stalls procured M109A1 and M109A2 and Rheinmetall adapted the German ideas and realities. It was retooled among others on the German panoramic telescope, a tank scope and self-protection system. As the most significant change, the entire weapon system was replaced with new pipes, new smoke Extractor, new muzzle brake, and new flat wedge lock. These measures increased the maximum shot distance to 18,500 m. For the Geschützführer, the periscope dome was taken over by the MTW M 113. 7, 62 MG3 served as a short-range weapon instead of the heavy 12, 7 mm Browning M2.
