Saperzy Szturmowi (Polish: assault/"storm" sappers) are Polish paratrooper engineers, suited for shock duties.
Like the Spades, these soldiers are equipped with HE 2 assault rifles, and have an accuracy of 9, at the same time they are flamethrower armed, which makes them a very viable choice for clearing out areas where large infantry formations will be.
Saperzy Szturmowi are considered shock troops, they can easily rout armored opponents, but sadly cannot destroy them, as they have no anti-tank weapons. Since this unit is an airborne unit, they are able to be transported via helicopter, or they can stick with the good old SKOT. Polish para-engineers are one of the best infantry killers in the game, besting Spetsnaz in certain situations.
The 6th Pomeranian Airborne was formed from the 6th Infantry Division in 1957, it was a qualified parachutist infantry unit within the Polish First Army.
The Brigade had an engineer element who were meant to support paradropped vehicles, set up posts, and manage communications.
The 6th Airborne started using red berets during the game's era, instead of the blue berets, which was the USSR's designation for Airborne Infantry. The soldiers were trained well, however the numerous interruption of rebellions prevented the communist military from developing their military even more.
After the downfall of the USSR, Poland's original government was restored, but the 6th Airborne stayed, including the engineer element, using the same traditions, nearly the same weaponry, and the same vehicles as the past.
